Redsn0w 0.9.6b4 has been released by the iPhone Dev Team setting the stage for the upcoming iPhone 3GS, 3G bb 05.14.02 unlock on iOS 4.2.1. The instructions to jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (both old and new bootrom), and iPhone 3G using Redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 4 are similar to those using redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 3.

Stay tuned with us by following Blogsdna on Twitter or become fan of Blogsdna Facebook fan page for more on iOS 4.2.1 unlocking & jailbreaking. The Dev Team just updated RedSn0w to version 0.9.6b4, which will jailbreak iOS 4.2.1. As we explained yesterday, thanks to a combination of pwnage2 exploit, the arm7_go exploit, 24kpwn, and LimeRa1n, you will get an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 3G, older iPhone 3GS, and non-MC iPod touch 2G. The iPhone dev team has already released RedSn0w 0.9.6b4, based on Geohot’s Limera1n bootrom exploit, which brings first proper jailbreak, with working Cydia for all iOS 4.2.1 devices.
Warning For Unlockers– Stay away from the official iOS 4.2.1 update via iTunes and also Redsn0w 0.9.6b4 jailbreak. Or else you will update your baseband and end up losing unlock, possibly forever. Wait for PwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze to be updated to support iOS 4.2.1 so that you can cook custom firmware without baseband update.
Jailbreak iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G iOS 4.2.1 Using Redsn0w 0.9.6 Beta 4
First of all let us warn you that if you own an iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS (new bootrom) then your jailbreak will be tethered. iPhone 3GS (old bootrom) and iPhone 3G users need not worry. Their jailbreak is untethered.

redsn0w (Windows) 0.9.15b3
redsn0w is a tool for PC, Mac and Linux that allows you to jailbreak an iPod or iPhone without restoring the device. It differs from PwnageTool because instead of creating a new software file that you install onto your iPod/iPhone, it jailbreaks the system directly on the device. It also supports unlocking iPhones. See the change-log for supported devices, and the official website for more information. **Do not ask where to get official IPSW files, those are copyrighted Apple files and are considered warez**
Change log (0.9.4 (Windows)):
Support for 3.1.3 firmware on all iPod Touch and iPhone models. Comments are closed.
